Peterbuilt Boerboel Bloodlines: World-Class Genetics, Documented

Every kennel says it has champion bloodlines. We publish the registration numbers, appraisal scores, and pedigree connections so you can verify ours: the Klein Sandfontein Judge line and Black Iron foundation genetics, in one Texas program.

Updated July 2026

The Short Answer

Our brood female Peterbuilt M3G is a daughter of Klein Sandfontein Judge, the highest SABBS linear-appraised male Boerboel in the world from April 2017 to May 2024 (93.4%). Our stud Black Iron Amari was bred by Black Iron Boerboels, the Indiana kennel behind the breed's highest appraisal scores. Genetics we bred ourselves sit inside Black Iron's own breeding program today. Every claim on this page is tied to a registration number you can check.

The Klein Sandfontein Judge Line

Klein Sandfontein Judge was imported to the United States from South Africa's Klein Sandfontein kennel and is owned by Black Iron Boerboels in Indiana. His SABBS linear appraisal score is 93.4%. From April 2017 to May 2024, Judge was the highest SABBS linear-appraised male Boerboel in the world. At the 2018 USA SABBS Show he took Senior Champion Male, Grand Champion Male, and Dog of the Day.

Our brood female Peterbuilt M3G (SABBS #000444374, appraised 84.5%) is a Klein Sandfontein Judge daughter. M3G is the dam of our current Heart of Texas Big Moe x Peterbuilt M3G litter of 9 puppies, which makes every puppy in that litter a Klein Sandfontein Judge grandpuppy. The current record appraisal of 94.1% also traces to Black Iron's program, the same program our foundation dogs come from.

If you want Judge genetics in a family companion rather than a show string, this litter is a direct route to them. See it on our available puppies page, or start with our price guide (most picks run $2,500-$5,500).

Genetics Flow Both Ways

A one-way pedigree is easy to buy. What is hard to buy is the reverse: a top kennel choosing to breed forward with dogs you produced. We bred Peterbuilt Conga by pairing Klein Sandfontein Judge with our foundation female Afrika Zimbie (SABBS #360041, appraised 87.7%). Conga appraised 89.4% and entered the SABBS Stud Register at Black Iron Boerboels, who call us "our friends at Peterbuilt Boerboels" on their own site.

Conga's son Black Iron Blaze (SABBS Stud Register, appraised 89.7%) sires Black Iron's current litter. In plain terms: Peterbuilt-bred genetics sit inside the breeding program of the most-awarded Boerboel kennel in North America.

That exchange runs in our direction too. Our stud Black Iron Amari and our female Koda both carry Black Iron breeding, and Black Iron Remi and Black Iron Honey were formerly part of our program. You can meet the current dogs on our males and females pages.

The table below is the paper trail. Registration numbers are public, and SABBS appraisal scores are assigned by third-party appraisers, not by us. Each dog's own page carries its photos, pedigree details, and downloadable health certificates.

What a SABBS Appraisal Score Actually Means

The Boerboel, also called the South African Mastiff, is unusual among mastiff breeds in having an objective scoring system. In a SABBS linear appraisal, a trained appraiser from the South African Boerboel Breeders' Society measures an adult dog trait by trait against the official breed standard and expresses the result as a percentage of the ideal Boerboel. It is a third-party number, not a breeder's opinion.

Scores above 90% are elite. The highest-appraised SABBS male in the world from April 2017 to May 2024 scored 93.4%, and the current record stands at 94.1%. A dog appraising in the mid-to-high 80s, like our Afrika Zimbie at 87.7% or Black Iron Amari at 86.1%, sits well up the breed's quality curve.

The SABBS Stud Register is a bar above the ordinary register: entry requires a high appraisal score plus health requirements, so a Stud Register listing certifies both conformation and soundness. Three dogs in our pedigree picture hold it: Black Iron Keeper (90.6%), Peterbuilt Conga (89.4%), and Black Iron Blaze (89.7%).

We treat registry health bars as a floor, not a ceiling. Our breeding dogs get hip and elbow evaluations (OFA or FCI), OFA advanced cardiac exams with echocardiogram, and Embark DNA panels, and we publish the certificates as downloadable PDFs on each dog's page. Publishing the actual documents is still rare in this breed, and it is the single easiest way to separate a real program from a sales pitch; our guide to choosing a Boerboel breeder shows you what to demand from anyone, including us. Every puppy also goes home under our public purchase contract with a 24-month health guarantee.

Boerboel Bloodline FAQ

What bloodline are Peterbuilt Boerboels?

Peterbuilt Boerboels carry two of the most proven lines in the breed. Our brood female Peterbuilt M3G (SABBS #000444374) is a daughter of Klein Sandfontein Judge, the highest SABBS linear-appraised male Boerboel in the world from April 2017 to May 2024. Our stud Black Iron Amari (SABBS #435679, appraised 86.1%) was bred by Black Iron Boerboels in Indiana, and our female Koda is out of Black Iron Njombe. We also run the Bostu import line through Bostu Sunny Cool and our Afrika foundation through Afrika Zimbie (appraised 87.7%).

Who is Klein Sandfontein Judge?

Klein Sandfontein Judge is a South African Boerboel imported to the United States from South Africa's Klein Sandfontein kennel and owned by Black Iron Boerboels in Indiana. He holds a SABBS linear appraisal of 93.4% and was the highest SABBS linear-appraised male Boerboel in the world from April 2017 to May 2024. At the 2018 USA SABBS Show he was Senior Champion Male, Grand Champion Male, and Dog of the Day. Our brood female Peterbuilt M3G is his daughter.

What is a SABBS appraisal score?

A SABBS appraisal score is the result of a linear appraisal, where a trained appraiser from the South African Boerboel Breeders' Society measures an adult dog trait by trait against the official breed standard and expresses the result as a percentage of the ideal Boerboel. Scores above 90% are elite: the highest-appraised male in the world from 2017 to 2024 scored 93.4%, and the current record is 94.1%. An appraisal is an objective, third-party evaluation, which is why we publish our dogs' scores and registration numbers instead of just calling them world class.

Are your dogs related to Black Iron Boerboels?

Yes, in both directions. Our stud Black Iron Amari was bred by Black Iron Boerboels, our female Koda is out of Black Iron Njombe, and Black Iron Remi and Black Iron Honey were formerly part of our program. Going the other way, Peterbuilt Conga, a female we bred from Klein Sandfontein Judge and our Afrika Zimbie, appraised 89.4%, entered the SABBS Stud Register, and now lives at Black Iron Boerboels, where her son Black Iron Blaze (Stud Register, 89.7%) sires their current litter.

Do bloodlines really matter in a family Boerboel?

Less than health testing and temperament do, and any breeder who tells you otherwise is selling you a pedigree instead of a dog. Great bloodlines raise the floor: they make sound structure, stable temperament, and breed-typical size more likely across a litter. But no ancestor, however decorated, guarantees an individual puppy. That is why we hip, elbow, and cardiac test the actual parents, run Embark DNA panels, and match each puppy to its home by temperament rather than by paper.
